Jean Gustafson, RN

Jean Gustafson, RN Educator and Infection Control Specialist, is leading the way at Absolut Care of Westfield.

Jean has been a vital part of our organization for the past two years and has rebuilt and reestablished our facility’s nurse-aide training program which was nearly non-existent during the COVID-19 pandemic. Jean graduated from nursing school in 1980, earning her BSN.

Jean has held various nursing positions, including Director of Nursing, Executive Director for two skilled nursing facilities, Charge Nurse on a med/surg teaching unit, Employee Health Nurse, and Infection Preventionist. She accepted the position as a program instructor at the Cassadaga Job Corp Center for 6 years where she fine-tuned her teaching skills and brought that experience to Absolut Care of Westfield.

Here, Jean guides our nursing students to become legendary employees. With Jean’s experience and background, we are leading the industry by training top-notch caregivers. Jean states that she loves teaching and watching her students thrive to better their lives and give them opportunities of growth within the industry. Outside of nursing, Jean loves to homestead.

Here’s what some of her students have to say:

I passed my CNA certification with Jean in January 2024. It was a great experience! She is so kindhearted and very understanding. Although the class time is short, I learned so many new things and I will forever be grateful for Jean. – LaNina, CNA

During my class, I was able to learn so much about not only being a CNA but about genuinely caring about the residents. Jean is an amazing teacher and made the class beyond enjoyable. I thank Jean for helping me begin my career path! – Samantha, CNA

If Tim could give the youth of today one piece of advice, it would be: “Be yourself and follow your dreams.”

Edward

Edward was born in Buffalo, NY, at Mercy Hospital. He is one of fourteen children and is the baby of fourteen! Needless to say, life was busy on the home front of Bertha & Henry “Mom and Dad”.

Edward recalls his childhood memories were full of love and fun with his ten brothers and three sisters. Edward graduated from West Seneca West in 1970.
